An experiment in redesigning natural structures. SuperFoam is a re-creation of naturally occurring reticulated foam structures through a casting process that facilitates designing the properties of the foam itself. By developing the casting process the properties of the foam could be controlled so the chair flexed and deformed to create a supportive structure.

7. Another beautiful ghost chair but this one is created by Design Drift. The effect inside the Plexiglas, was made with a laser. The ghostly effect is created with millions of air bubbles that are seen when light is reflected on the chair.

8. These stunning lawn chairs are made from concrete and designed by Wendell Castle.

9. Optical Illusion chair by Davide Conti. The two transparent chair feet makes the chair look like it’s magically balancing only on one foot. Very clever and stylish.

1. The Meat chair

This..er..not-scary-looking Harkonnen Chair from Giger costs a $30,000 for the fiberglass version and $45,000 for the aluminum version. This chair also does not look like it will grab onto you when you sit down in it and hold you down..forever..

I think this is the chair that Death probably lounges in, with his hot coco and little knee blanket, to watch his soaps.

4. Female Form Fiberglass Chair

I don’t know where to begin with this little number. I DO know, it’s creepy beyond belief and gives me goosebumps.

5. Octopus Chair

The description of this chair is “Ancient marine life sculpted by modernity”. The Maximo Riera chair collection will soon present a variety of animals including ‘Rhino’, ‘Lion’, ‘Beetle’, ‘Whale’ and ‘Walrus’. Ok I admit, this chair is an acquired taste but it’s sort of growing on me and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the collection turns out.

Two parts velvet couch to one part arachnid, the Living Lounge Chair is crafted from micro-suede and poplar. Yeah, I don’t need to bump into this creepy-creeping chair at night on my way to the bathroom..

This chair looks like it’s been fashioned out of something that has been lying in the road for months. If that was Jason Miller’s (the artist) intention, then he succeeded admirably. Now, to summon up the courage to curl up on something that stares at you incessantly..
