Bidets: FAQ:

What Are Bidets?
Bidets are similar to toilets, with the difference that a spray of water - rather than toilet
paper - is used for cleaning afterwards.

Where Do Bidets Come From?
The first reference to bidets dates from 18th century Europe. In a time when a weekly
bath was considered sufficient, bidets offered a way to keep the private areas clean in the periods between baths. Bidets are still quite common in Europe. In fact, finding a decent
home without a bidet is the exception rather than the rule.

How Do I Use A Bidet?
Bidets are like mini-showers. On most bidets you'd sit facing the bidet faucets (facing the
wall in other words). Before rinsing, the water temperature is adjusted. To rinse, simply increase the water pressure.

Are Bidets More Hygienic?
If installed and used properly, then yes, they are more hygienic. Don't install your bidet yourself. Because both electricity and water is involved, it is better to have it installed by a professional. There is also a real danger of water contamination if the bidet is not installed with the correct one-way valve.
